This volume contains monographs about the presence of Venetian artists in Emilia, between the 16th and the 17th centuries, and research on collections of paintings and drawings, with special regard to the heritage of Duchies of Ferrara and Modena.
Among others, the major monographic contributions focus on Filippo da Verona in the 16th century, and Antonio Giarola for the next century, the artistic career of Sante Peranda, who was long active in the area of Modena and Mirandola and was commissioned by the Pico della Mirandola family and the House of Este, as well as the many works by Palma il Giovane
